What Are Marine Aluminum Plate Grades
5xxx series aluminium plate grades are non-heat-treatable aluminum alloys. They are widely used in transportation fields such as automobiles and ships because of their light weight, high strength and good corrosion resistance.
The most common is 5083 aluminum plate, which is an aluminum-magnesium alloy with low density, high toughness, high corrosion resistance and weldability. It is mainly used on the hull. It can adapt well to the harsh marine environment.
The use of aluminum alloy profiles in ship-type transportation vehicles began in the 1790s, and it has a history of more than 100 years. 6061 aluminum is a precipitation hardening alloy containing magnesium and silicon, which is used to manufacture marine accessories and hardware.
6082 aluminum alloy belongs to the aluminum-magnesium-silicon series and can be heat-treated to strengthen deformation aluminum alloy. It has medium strength, low density, good corrosion resistance, good processing performance and welding performance. It can be used to manufacture high-speed ship hulls, large marine welded structures and marine parts.
