5083 5059 for Building Aluminium Boat

5083 and 5059 aluminum sheets are two well known marine aluminum alloys in building aluminium boat. Material en aw 5083 is more common while 5059 aluminium is the most high-end marine aluminum alloy and is currently recognized as the most technically difficult high-end marine aluminum alloy in the industry.

5083 aluminum alloy has the highest tensile strength and good weldability among all non-heat-treated strengthened aluminum alloys, and is extremely resistant to seawater corrosion. It is recognized as the best marine aluminum alloy. In the ship design industry, 5083 ultra-wide aluminum plates in the states of H116/H321/H112 are often used.

Many foreign speedboats are built with 5083 aluminum alloy. 5083 aluminum sheet has been widely used in military and civilian passenger ships and many other aspects. 5083-H116 aluminum alloy plate is the most commonly used military and civilian aluminum alloy in the field of ships. It has broad application prospects in military speedboats and high-speed passenger ships.

5083 aluminum plate makes use of work hardening and micro-alloying to improve its comprehensive properties without the problem of low-temperature cold brittleness. It still maintains excellent mechanical properties under low-temperature conditions and is widely used in LNG tanks.

5059 alloy was registered in 1999. 5059 aluminum sheet has a density of 2,660 kg/m3 (0.096 lb/cubic inch) and a specific gravity of 2.66. Its melting point is 590 ℃(1,090 ℉).It has been used to manufacture cruise ships and various ships that can carry 7,000 guests, as well as storage tanks for 300 kt LNG ships.

All properties of 5059 aluminum alloy are better than those of 5083 aluminum alloy. However, due to the high magnesium content of 5059 aluminum alloy, its pressure processing performance and formability are slightly inferior to 5083.

5059 aluminum is stronger than steel. Its ultimate strength value and yield point are equivalent to low alloy steel S235 (AlCu4SiMg, AA2014). Its strength characteristics are also greatly improved compared to the traditional 5083 aluminum alloy. The yield point increased by 26% before welding and by 28% after welding (heat treated welded AA5059 H321/H116 aluminum sheet).

Haomei Aluminum supplies rich alloys of marine grade certified sheet including 5083, 5052, 5086, 5059,etc. Welcome to leave message below to inquire what you need.
