Aluminum Alloys for Marine Applications
The marine aluminum alloys are widely used in transportation because of their excellent physical and chemical properties. It can reduce the weight of components by more than 50% when used in ships instead of steel, and can avoid the rust damage of steel plates during use and cause premature scrapping of ships. Therefore, it is an ideal raw material for ship building.
There are two types of corrosion-resistant aluminum alloys for ships: casting alloys and wrought alloys. Deformed aluminum alloys include Al-Mg aluminum 5xxx, AlMgSi 6xxx and aluminum alloys with trace elements of scandium added to AlMg or AlMgZn.
Al 5052 has become a representative product of aluminum-magnesium alloy with relatively stable mechanical properties and excellent anti-rust and corrosion resistance. In the international code name, 5052 aluminum plate can also be called almg2.5.
This means that the content of mg alloy (magnesium alloy) is around 2.5% (between 2.2-2.6), with low density (2.68), high strength, and strong 5052 machinable performance. It is an excellent product suitable for bending, stamping, stretching and other design and processing processes.
5083 aluminum sheet has excellent strength, bending performance and seawater corrosion resistance. It is a kind of aluminum alloy for ships with good comprehensive performance. 5083H116/H321/H112 is commonly used. The 5083-H116 aluminum alloy sheet has broad application prospects in the fields of military speedboats and high-speed passenger ships.
Any kind of small boats made of 5083 aluminum plate will last for decades without suffering any noticeable corrosion. The decommissioning of such ships is usually due to technical obsolescence rather than aging of the aluminum structure.
5383 aluminum alloy is an improved alloy of 5083 aluminum alloy. Compared with 5083 aluminum alloy, 5383 aluminum alloy has higher strength and better welding performance. The former is more resistant to corrosion than the latter, and the hardness has also increased by 10%. These potential performance improvements reduce the number of welds.
The Mg content of 5086 aluminum plate is between 3.5% and 4.5%. Its strength is higher than that of 5052 aluminum alloy, but the strength is slightly lower than that of 5083 aluminum alloy. Generally speaking, the state of commonly used 5086 marine aluminum plate is O, H111, H112, H116, H321, etc.
All the Haomei boat aluminum sheets are with classification society certification like DNV, LR, RHNA, ABS,etc. Welcome to leave message below to inquire what you need.
