The Use of 5052 5083 Aluminum Sheet for Shipbuilding
5052 aluminum alloy is mainly composed of aluminum, magnesium and a small amount of chromium, and has high corrosion resistance and weldability. 5052 h32 hardness is relatively low, usually with a Brinell hardness of about 60 in the hardness test. This makes it likely to perform poorly in applications that require high hardness.
Hardness is not the only factor that determines the performance of aluminum alloys. Different applications require different characteristics. The corrosion resistance and weldability of 5052 aluminum alloy may be more important in some cases.
5052h32 is an annealing process that accounts for a relatively large proportion of the entire use. This annealing temperature is generally 420-475 degrees Celsius for direct annealing, which has the advantages of high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and oxidation resistance.
Aluminum alloy yachts for freshwater lakes are mostly made of 5052-H32 or 5052-0 aluminum plates, while luxury yachts on the sea are generally made of high-magnesium alloy 5083H116 or 5083H321 aluminum plates, and they have good corrosion resistance after special processing technology.
Marine grade aluminium 5083 is the main alloy of aluminum plate for ships and the main aluminum material for shipbuilding. Because ships sail in seawater or inland rivers all year round, they have high requirements for anti-corrosion and rust prevention. In shipbuilding, 5083 aluminum plates are often used to process multiple parts such as hulls, operating tables, and decks.
In addition to good corrosion resistance, alu 5083 has good processability that can meet the needs of different shapes of ships, can be bent, and is not easy to crack. In addition, 5083 aluminum plate has good weldability, and sealing is very important for ships.
In the field of shipbuilding, 5083H116/H321/H112 aluminum plates are mostly used. Although the temperature of 5083H116 and H321 ship plates is slightly different during the production process, their corrosion resistance is significantly better than other tempers. Usually, marine aluminum plates represented by 5083 can resist the atmosphere, steam, water, etc. in the marine climate for a longer time.
