Therefore, while ensuring that safety parameters do not decrease, reducing the weight of ships has become a research focus.

Europe was the first region to successfully develop stiffened panel and apply them to aluminum alloy hulls. Subsequently, Russia and other countries also successively manufactured this structure. The emergence of ribbed plates has a great impact on the structural design and construction process of aluminum alloy hulls.

As the basic structural unit of the ship, the research and promotion of lightweight design of the stiffened plate will help reduce the overall weight of the ship and achieve the goal of lightweighting the whole ship. The strength of the stiffened plate is one of its important safety indicators. In addition to mechanical properties, vibration characteristics are also one of the important characteristics of the stiffened plate.

In structural optimization research, generally only mechanical properties or vibration properties are considered, and there are few structural optimization studies that consider both vibration and weight. However, the stiffened plates of ships must ensure a certain strength and have certain requirements for vibration control. In structural optimization, weight, strength and stiffness are interrelated and affect each other.

Ribbed plates are planar structures containing several profiles parallel to each other in one direction. Compared with similar planar structures welded from plates and profiles (including finished profiles and welded composite profiles), the application of ribbed plates shows obvious superiority in structural performance, hull quality, construction cycle, etc.

The geometric accuracy of the ribbed plate structure is very high, because the cross section and positioning of the components are determined by the extrusion die, rather than by manual welding like the traditional profile plate. Therefore, the plane of the ribbed plate is very close to the "geometric plane". This makes the overall stability and local stability of the ribbed plate much better than the traditional profile plate. Therefore, the thin-walled structure of the superstructure has a smooth appearance.

Even if various measures are taken to control welding deformation and post-weld correction processes are adopted for traditional profile plate, it is impossible to achieve the same level as this new aluminium profile sheet.
