5052 5086 Aluminum Sheet for Building Boats
The structure and industrial environment of ships require materials to have good corrosion resistance, weldability, plasticity and certain resistance, yield strength, ductility, impact resistance and other properties. The aluminum alloys that meet these properties and can be used most and have the best effect on ships are industrial 5xxx series and 6xxx series alloys.
The main 5xxx alloy used is 5083 aluminum sheet, and others include 5052,5083, 5059, 5383,etc. The hardness of 5052 aluminum alloy is relatively low, usually with a Brinell hardness of about 60 in the hardness test. However, it should be noted that hardness is not the only factor that determines the performance of aluminum alloy. The corrosion resistance and 5052 aluminum weldability may be more important in some cases.
5052 aluminum plate is an Al-Mg alloy with excellent corrosion resistance and medium strength, which is suitable for the manufacture of economical aluminum alloy ships. In addition to being used for the hull, 5052 aluminum plates can also be used in cable bridges, ship sinks, cabin floors and other parts on ships.
Aluminum alloy yachts for freshwater lakes are mostly made of 5052-H32 or 5052-0 aluminum plates, while luxury yachts on the sea are generally made of high-magnesium alloy 5083H116 or 5083H321 aluminum plates, and they have good corrosion resistance after special processing.
5086 aluminum is easy to weld and retains most of its mechanical strength. Good welding results and excellent corrosion resistance in seawater make 5086 very popular in the construction of ship gangways, ships and yacht hulls. 5086 is the recommended hull material for small aluminum boats and large yachts. Its high strength and excellent corrosion resistance make it an ideal choice for yachts.
The main alloying element of 5086 aluminum sheet is magnesium, also known as magnesium-aluminum alloy. 5086 h32 is its main temper. 5086 aluminum sheet has high corrosion resistance, good weldability, and medium strength. It is widely used in the manufacture of sheet metal parts for transportation vehicles and ships, instruments, hardware products, and electrical housings.
