5052 5083 Aluminum Properties in Saltwater
Aluminum has excellent resistance to saltwater corrosion and extremely light weight. It is also available in a variety of forms of plates and profiles. All these properties cover many of the essential elements needed for shipbuilding. 5xxx aluminum alloys are the well known marine grade aluminum alloys, especially 5052 and 5083.
The main one of the 5052 properties is corrosion resistance, specially seawater corrosion resistance, which is why it is has many applications as marine grade aluminum and transport containers for gas and oil tankers. It is also durable and has a longer lifespan than other alloys when exposed to marine environments.
5052 marine aluminum plate has a higher magnesium content than other alloys. Magnesium has high strength, anti-rust function and corrosion resistance, which can well cope with corrosion from saltwater and fresh water.
5052 aluminum diamond plate is mainly used for anti-skid on the ground or work platform. It is currently widely used in foot pedals, and is also widely used in anti-skid applications in carriages and ship bottoms. 5052 5bar aluminum diamond plate can be used as the inner wall of cold storage rooms, high-end refrigerators, and large transport vehicles.
5083 aluminum plate has high plasticity, toughness and corrosion resistance, especially in the atmosphere, fresh water, seawater and other environments. At the same time, it has good welding performance and can be processed by various welding methods, such as manual arc welding, TIG welding, MIG welding, etc. Its excellent corrosion resistance and welding performance make ships have a long service life and low maintenance costs in seawater environments.
5083 aluminum sheet is used in shipbuilding to not only reduce the weight of the ship, but also increase the load, improve the safety and service life of the ship, and is also economical. With the reduction of the weight of the ship, the running speed of the ship can be increased, bringing higher economic benefits.
The bending effect of 5083 aluminum plate depends on the tempers. In the state with higher hardness, it is easy to break when bending. The H18 super hard state is not suitable for bending. The states suitable for bending are: 5083 h34,H111, H112, H114, H24, H32, O, etc.
