How to Build Ship With 6082 Aluminum Alloy

6082 aluminum plate is a kind of heat-treatable alloy with good formability, weldability, workability and corrosion resistance. At the same time, it has medium strength and can still maintain good operability after annealing.

It is mainly used in transportation and structural engineering industries such as bridges, cranes, automobile roof panel, transport aircraft, transport ships, ship parts, electronic parts, etc. It is usually used in the form of thick aluminum plate in T6 temper.

Compared with traditional carbon steels, it has many differences in physical properties such as density, melting point, thermal conductivity, yield stress, volume shrinkage during solidification, elongation, and tensile strength. In the process of using aluminum alloy for building ship, we need to consider the structural load and corrosive environment of the ship.

Take the design of a 14m aluminum alloy ship for example. Considering that the design volume-length ratio of the ship has a greater impact on damping, therefore, reducing the weight of the ship as much as possible has a greater impact on the seaworthiness of the speedboat. 6082 plate has great advantages in terms of wear resistance and impact resistance.

Since 6082 plate is of easy oxidation, low melting point, and large linear expansion coefficient, it increases the welding difficulty during ship construction. At present, the commonly used welding technologies mainly include TIG welding, MIG welding, etc. There are automatic, semi-automatic and manual welding modes.

In practical applications, various welding modes are used to complement each other. For example, TIG tungsten welding is usually used in automatic and manual welding, and MIG argon arc welding is often used in semi-automatic welding. At present, the most commonly used welding method in aluminum alloy shipbuilding is MIG welding, which has the advantages of igh deposition efficiency and low cost of argon gas.

6082 plate is widely used in high-speed ships, official ships, yachts and other fields. It is more demanding than steel ships in terms of specification requirements, welding design and welding process. Welcome to leave message below to inquire it.
