Aluminum Alloy 6000 Series Properties:6082 and 6061

The 6 series aluminum profile is an alloy with aluminum and silicon as the main element. It is extruded at high temperature to form a strengthening phase called Mgzsi phase. This is an aluminum alloy profile that can be strengthened by heat treatment, making it own good corrosion resistance, medium strength and good welding performance. Currently, the common 6 series aluminum alloy grades include 6005, 6060, 6061, 6063, 6082, 6201, 6262, 6463, 6A02, etc.

6061 aluminum sheet is a precipitation hardening alloy containing magnesium and silicon used in the manufacture of marine fittings and hardware. This marine aluminum alloy has excellent weldability and good mechanical properties and is one of the most commonly used general-purpose alloys.

6061 aluminum alloy can be used to manufacture hull structural parts and turbine parts, such as frames, ship plates, turbine casings, etc. This is because 6061 aluminum rods have good corrosion resistance and can work stably in the marine environment for a long time.

Heat treatment is one of the important processes to improve the tensile strength of 6061 aluminum plate. T6 heat treatment refers to the solution treatment of 6061 aluminum plate and then artificial aging treatment. This can significantly improve the strength and hardness of the aluminum plate, thereby increasing its tensile strength. 6061 t6 aluminum sheet has excellent strength and corrosion resistance.

6061 t6 aluminum sheet properties

6061-t6 aluminum alloy tensile strength mechanical properties: ≥180 σb (MPa)

6061-t6 aluminum alloy hardness and mechanical properties: 95-100 HB Brinell hardness

6061-t6 aluminum alloy yield strength mechanical properties: ≥110 σ0.2 (MPa)

6061-t6 aluminum alloy elongation mechanical properties: ≥14 δ5 (%)

6061-t6 aluminum alloy strength and mechanical properties: ≥150 σb (MPa)

6082 aluminum alloy is a medium-strength alloy with excellent corrosion resistance. It is the strongest of the 6000 series alloys. Alloy 6082 is known as a structural alloy. As a relatively new alloy, the higher strength of 6082 has allowed it to replace 6061 in many applications. Adding large amounts of manganese controls the grain structure, resulting in a stronger alloy.

Aluminum 6082-t6 is a medium strength alloy with excellent corrosion resistance. It has the highest strength among the 6000 series alloys. The 6082 t6 properties are shown in the table:
