Aluminum 5000 Series for Metal Fishing Boat
Aluminum 5000 series are widely used in the hull structure of small ships like metal fishing boat and the superstructure of large ships due to their good corrosion resistance, among which 5083 aluminum alloy occupies an important position in the hull structure.
However, the 5083 aluminum alloy belongs to the low-strength aluminum alloy, which is severely restricted in the manufacture of load-bearing components. Therefore, it is an inevitable trend to improve the mechanical properties of Al-Mg system antirust aluminum alloys through alloying design.
1561 aluminum alloy is a new type of anti-rust aluminum alloy developed on the basis of the existing Al-Mg series marine aluminum alloy to increase the content of Mg and Mn and reduce the content of impurity elements, so as to meet the needs of high corrosion-resistant load-bearing components.
A comparative study of 1561 and 5083 aluminum alloys found that the degree of segregation of Mg elements at the grain boundaries of 1561 alloys is greater than that of 5083 alloys, so the resistance to intergranular corrosion of 1561 alloys is lower than that of 5083 aluminum alloys and the stress corrosion cracking susceptibility of 1561 alloys is greater than 5083 alloy.
In 1956, the 5456 alloy was promoted and applied on the superstructure of the US Navy warship. The Mg content of 5456 alloy is 5 wt%, which is much higher than 3 wt%. When the alloy is served at a temperature >50 ℃, the alloy will precipitate β phase (Mg2Al3) at the grain boundary. Compared with the matrix, the β phase belongs to the anode, which is prone to electrochemical reactions and aggravates its corrosion sensitivity.
In shorter aging time, the weight loss of 5456-H116 alloy is almost twice that of 5083-H116 alloy. When the aging time exceeds 150 h, the weight loss of the 5083-H116 alloy is much higher than that of the 5456-H116 alloy, indicating that after the aging time is >100 h, the corrosion sensitivity of the 5456 alloy is much lower than that of the 5083-H116 alloy.
5052 aluminum alloy is one of the 5XXX aluminum alloys, of which the Mg content is 2.2%-2.8%. In its mechanical properties, the tensile strength οb can reach 215-265Mpa, and the elongation ≤5%. The application of 5052 marine aluminum sheet requires it to have high corrosion resistance against marine atmosphere and seawater corrosion. And although the existing 5052 aluminum alloy material also has certain anti-corrosion ability, it can not fully meet the application requirements of the shipbuilding industry.
