Aluminium 6061 VS6082
With its unique charm, industrial aluminum alloy profiles shine in many arenas such as aviation, aerospace, automobiles, machinery manufacturing, ships, construction, decoration and chemical industries. With the rapid changes in science and industrial economy, the demand for aluminum alloy welded structural parts is surging like a tide.
6082 and 6061 aluminum alloys are like twins in the alloy world, belonging to the Al-Mg-Si alloy that can be heat treated and strengthened. Their extrusion and forging properties are excellent, and their anodizing and corrosion resistance are also first-class. After extrusion quenching and artificial aging, the HBS value of 6082 can reach more than 80, while that of 6061 can exceed 95. Aluminium 6061 composition is also a little different from that of 6082 aluminum.
Both alloys are used in everything from landing pads to boats, building components to bicycles, automotive parts, optical instruments and rolling stock. Although 6082 and 6061 overlap in many areas, customers in the Middle East seem to have a soft spot for 6082.
The reason for this may be related to the quenching sensitivity of 6082. Since it contains Mn in its composition, its corrosion resistance and welding performance are even better. Especially on marine ships, 6082 marine aluminum sheet is widely used.
6082 aluminum alloy is a unique alloy whose strength is significantly increased after heat treatment. It is like a piece of plasticine that can be shaped as you like and the smoothness of machining is even more amazing. Despite its moderate strength, its handling is outstanding even after annealing. This alloy has similar but not identical mechanical properties to 6061 alloy, and aluminium 6082 t6 has higher mechanical properties. Aluminium 6082 t6 density is 2.85g/cm³.
Whether it is rods, plates, tubes or profiles, 6082 aluminum can demonstrate excellent operability. In Europe and the United States, 6082 alloy is very popular and is widely used in various fields, such as seamless aluminum tubes, structural profiles and customized profiles, etc.
When we talk about the processing characteristics of 6082, we have to mention its anodic reaction performance. This alloy performs well during the anodic reaction process, whether it is removing impurities or processing such as staining and coating with ease.
