Aluminium 5083 5052 Plate
Aluminum alloys for ships can be divided into aluminum alloys for hull structure and aluminum alloys for outfitting according to their uses. The aluminum alloys used in the hull structure are mainly aluminium 5083, 5086 and 5456. The 6000 series alloys are mainly used for the upper structure of ships because they will undergo intergranular corrosion in seawater. The aluminum alloys for outfitting are mainly extruded profiles.
Small yachts in freshwater lakes are generally made of 5052H32 aluminum plates or 5052 0-state aluminum plates. Because they are in contact with fresh water, the corrosion is not as strong as seawater. Ocean yachts are almost all luxury yachts. Because seawater is highly corrosive, they are generally made of 5083H116 or 5083H321 high-magnesium alloys. Moreover, they have good corrosion resistance after special processing technology.
After replacing traditional steel plates with aluminum materials such as 5083 aluminum plate, the average weight of each ship is saved by about 8-100 tons. 5083 wide and medium-thick plates are mostly used, and the length and width requirements are high. Usually the width is 2m and the length is 6m. In addition, it must be certified by a classification society like ABS, DNV, LR.
5083 marine aluminum plates are mostly in the form of h116/h321/h112 and can be widely used in yachts, cruise ships, and fishing boats. 5083 aluminum plates are not only used for lightweight performance, but also improves the ship speed and extend the service life of the ship.
5052 aluminum plate has good corrosion resistance to salt water and salt spray. Therefore, it has many applications in marine structures such as natural gas tankers. Aluminum alloy 5052 is equivalent to aluminum alloy 6061. 5052 has a smoother surface than 6061. But it cannot be heat treated.
5052 aluminum sheet is a material with excellent mechanical properties. Its mechanical properties such as tensile strength, hardness, and elongation are excellent. 5052 aluminum plates are commonly used as H32 as thin plates and H112 as thick plates. Aluminum plates in these two states are widely used.
