6082 Aluminum Plate Marine Grade Application
Alumium 6082 has excellent weldability, brazability, corrosion resistance, formability and machinability. It is of man good tempers: t4, t6, t651 and h112. The O and t4 temper are suitable for bending and forming applications, and t5 and tempers are suitable for good machinability requirements.
The 6082 aluminum applications is concentrated in mechanical parts, forgings, commercial vehicles, railway structural parts, shipbuilding, etc. It is often used as the board and components of marine ships.
6082 and 6061 have many similar uses, but customers in the Middle East prefer 6082. The quenching sensitivity of 6082 is higher (compared to 6061), and its composition contains Mn, so its corrosion resistance and welding performance are better. Their main difference lies in the composition ratio.
Aluminum alloy 6061: Si is 0.4-0.8, Mg is 0.8-1.2, and Fe is 0.7. The main alloying elements of 6061 aluminum alloy are magnesium and silicon, which form the Mg2Si phase. It has medium strength, good corrosion resistance, weldability, and good oxidation effect.
The chemical composition of 6082 is: Si 0.7~1.3; Fe 0.50; Cu 0.10; Mn 0.40~1.0; Mg 0.6~1.2; Cr 0.25; Zn0.2; Ti 0.10. Alloy 6082 is a very common alloy product in Europe and also has a high application in the United States. 6082 aluminum has good processing characteristics and good anodic reactivity. Since aluminum alloy 6082 has certain advantages over aluminum alloy 6061 in performance, its price is much higher.
6082 aluminum alloy smelting process:
1. Smelting
One alloying element of the 6082 aluminum sheet is Mn, which is a refractory metal, and the melting temperature should be controlled at 740-760 degree Celsius.
Stir evenly for more than two times before sampling to ensure that the metal is completely melted, the temperature is accurate, and the composition is uniform. After stirring, take a sample from the middle of the depth of the molten aluminum and on the left and right sides of the furnace for analysis.
2. Purification and casting
After the melt is transferred to the static furnace, powder spraying and jet refining are carried out with nitrogen and refining agent. The refining temperature is 735-745 ℃, and the time is 15 minutes.
The casting temperature of 6082 alloy aluminum plate is higher (compared to the normal process of 6063 aluminum plate). The above process needs to be strictly controlled and cannot exceed the scope, otherwise it will easily lead to casting failure.
Haomei Aluminum has both 6061 and 6082 aluminum sheet marine grade. Welcome to leave message blow to inquire what you need.
